Nancy will develop an application for MO APRN for new
members to complete.
• Any new members should send the $25.00 dues to MO APRN,
c/o Nancy Zaner, 1402 E. Hubach Hill Road, Raymore, MO
64083. Membership is open to any advanced practice
registered nurse along with students.
• If you know of someone that needs to be added to the
email list please feel free to give them Kim Johnson’s
email at boj1j@yahoo.com. We will get them added to the
list.
• Current members that have paid dues will be due for
renewal in January 2008.

Introduction of Jill Kliethermes, FNP, CEO of MONA
• Jill is the new Chief Executive Officer of Missouri
Nurses Association.
• Goals as the new CEO include being more visible to the
membership, increase members in MONA, more visits to the
districts, visit the schools of nursing to increase
membership. Goal is for nurses to understand the value of
professional association memberships.
• Did discuss potential to offer a discount to groups for
MONA membership. This will be discussed at the 10/26 board
meeting. She would make no promises until after this date
as it may require a vote.
• Current dues (which may vary by $1-$2 per month based on
district) are $150 or $13/month for State only membership
with a renewal of $185 or $15.92/month.
• Annual MONA meeting is 11/10/07
• Wanted to stress that MONA does pay a lobbyist and is NOT
part of the State Board of Nursing. These are two separate
entities.
• MONA does send a weekly update every Friday to the House
and Senate Members emphasizing something weekly related to
Advanced Practice Nursing.

Action Plan at Capitol This Year
• Each district should plan a legislative dinner or meet
and greet for their Representatives and Senators with APRNs
to discuss our issues we want addressed.
• The goal is to have a united front by giving consistent
messages in a timely fashion to our elected officials. If
you are willing to partner up with a Senator or
Representative please notify Kim Johnson by email who you
will be taking. If you are a MONA member notify Kyna Iman
directly. It DOES NOT need to be someone in your own
district. We need 100% coverage of all elected officials
this year. An updated list will be sent out when received
from Kyna for those not covered. Kyna’s email address is
kynaiman@earthlink.net.
• We have discussed that as a group we will again lobby for
Controlled Substance Authority. We have sponsors for this
bill. We would also like increased mileage within our CPA.
At a minimum 100 miles, but would like there to no
limitation on mileage, and the ability to write for
physical therapy orders.
• The question was posed as to what other States allow NPs
to write for PT orders. It was suggested that this
information has already been sent to Kyna Iman. Kim will
send Kyna an email requesting this information.
• Important Dates to remember are APRN day at the Capitol
on January 23rd. We will be meeting on the 3rd floor
between 9:30-10:00am.
• Other important dates with MONA include April 17/18, July
16, October 15th.

The floor was open to discussion and new business
• Nancy Zaner was recently invited to attend a legislative
session in Washington D.C. with the AANP. She is reporting
that at a federal level we are working on language with the
FDA, as well as other organizations, to change language
from “talk to your doctor” to “talk with your health care
provider”. Jan Towers is working with medicare on their
physician language for SCHIP bill.
• We need to have several NPs in the St. Joseph area
volunteer to go and meet with Charlie Shields. He has been
an obstacle for us in getting our issues past. Kyna Iman
wants to meet with him in person in St. Joseph. If you
live in this area please let Kim Johnson or Kyna Iman with
MONA know that you are willing to meet with him. It was
suggested that Joy Roberts, who is an APRN instructor in
the St. Joseph area would be interested. Kim Johnson did
contact Joy and she is willing to set up with several NPs.
Kyna has given prospective dates to Joy for the month of
November.

Meeting was adjourned. Next meeting scheduled for December
1st at 8:30am as a conference call.
